The students for the session are : Ciaran and Shauan
For Lil'Dragons the student of this session is Ciaran.
Ciaran just recieved his red stripe in the Lil'Dragons program at the last test. He has been the Sempai in the
beginner class on Sat. for some time now and always sets a great example for techniques and manners in class.
He is humble and quiet but really knows his stuff! He focus's on what is going on in class and is well on his way
to STORM team and his Yellow Belt, keep up the good work Ciaran, OSU!
Our Blue Dragon Student of the session is Shaun.
Shaun has been with Blue Dragon for quiet awhile now and has been so good, Sensei thought he was student of
the session years ago:) Now getting the recognition getting deserves for setting such a good example. Shaun
follows all the rules, is on STORM team and the Jiu-Jitsu Competition team. Win or loose he has amazing
sportsmanship and a super positive attitude. He sets a great example in class, is humble and helpful but also has
good techniques and some awesome advanced sparring being very well rounded on his feet and the ground .
Shaun helps the younger students, is respectful in class and is well on his way to his brown belt, testing for

- New for 2012- Grappling Competition Team M.V.T.
In 2012 we began a "MVP" program for our Kids
Grappling Competition Team ( Team Ground Control). We
call it "MVT" as our team mascot is a Taco:) After every
Jiu-jitsu tournament the Sensei's will pick a MVT. This is
a student who has really shown extra effort,
improvement and a great attitude....this can be done by
training hard, coming to class, doing their best,
executing their game-plan, being a great sport,
supporting other team members, respecting coaches
and refs, etc...this is not about winning a medal, it's about
hard work, being a good rep for the team and setting a
great example. (MVT gets a comp team MVT-shirt,
complete with Tacos:)
Most valuable Taco for NABJJF goes to.....ELI!
Eli gets the inaugural MVT title and well, he should! He just started with us but
was very enthusiastic and quickly got up to speed and ready for his first
tournament- NABJJF in Carson. Prior to the comp Eli was in the gym for most
classes AND open mat, payed attention, drilled and pushed himself to do
more. He worked on his game plan and drilled defense in class and open mat.
On comp day he was super positive, listened well to coaching, followed his
game plan, cheered the team, was a great sport and....even won gold in his
division!
Back in class after the team voted on a name and mascot and Eli's
suggestions WON too! So its fitting that Eli is our MVT! Keep it up Eli, with a
great attitude, hard work and humility you could be an amazing Champion one
day!
